Our Vision
We hope to see more people being well fed and not have to go hungry each day. We also hope to reduce all the edible food that gets tossed out into our dumpsters. There is more than enough food to feed everyone in this world, however the food is not being properly redirected to those who are in need. No Lost Food will try our best to redirect the food to those in need. |
Our Goal
There are so many people who go hungry each day yet there is so much edible food that is being wasted each day. Our team tries to reach out to as many people as possible who go hungry each day. We want to take a step forward in reducing the number of people who are hungry. At the same time trying to be the trail blazers in reducing edible food waste and landfill buildup. |
Our History
No Lost Food was formed on August of 2017 by three people, Preetha Rajkumar, Victoria Miranda, and Maria R. Parada. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing food wastage, providing food for the hungry, and recycling food by composting rather than throwing it into landfills. This realization came to the founder Preetha Rajkumar, when she worked on a Public Service Announcement dealing with world hunger and from a quote:
"You can't built a peaceful world on empty stomachs and human misery."
- Dr. Norman Ernest Borlaug
- Dr. Norman Ernest Borlaug
This quote resonated with her very much and pushed her to do more research about the number of people who go hungry each day. When thinking about the possible solutions she saw people throw away completely good and edible food, that was even still sealed in its packaging, into the trash, made her realize that a lot of edible food was being wasted when it could help feed more people.
Our founder, Preetha Rajkumar, came up with this organization and gathered a group of motivated individuals who shared her view, Victoria Miranda and Maria R. Parada. This organization started in El Paso, Texas with four people and would like to expand and link arms with more members in this society. We hope you will support our cause and join us.
